Check out e.g. what the good folks from Firemint, Digital Legends or Fishlabs are doing. One of our recent signings, Mobigame's EDGE equally shows great quality and polish. If we deduct the 75% betting, we'll end with $450m for casino, poker, etc (which is probably everything), which would be (to make it simpler) $150m for the UK, which sounds very healthy and, I would think, a little bit on the high side IF - and only IF - the base number is the rake. If it is not, you'd have to deduct another, say, 90%, and you'll end up at $45m (or $15m for the UK). When you look who is active in the UK (Spin3, Million-2-1, Cecure, etc), $15m revenue between them that feels somehow more realistic (but I really don't know). However, $15m revenue for the largest (legal) mobile gambling market in the world is not that big then, is it?Volkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07339880292543596771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119509740820419095.post-60471187678523556072008-12-07T16:13:00.000+00:002008-12-07T16:13:00.000+00:00So, what does this post mean Volk? Ports from them had many unexpected bugs and issues, and the web-based bug tracking system was a nightmare for our testers compared to Test Track Pro convenience. Most of the ports they did for us were for lowest-end handsets (all other ports were done internally), and with time amount of work they did for us declined. Last ports from them were delivered around this spring. So, the news about Tira closedown were not at all a surprise.

I'm not in any way representing Glu's opinion on this matter, just personal impressions of myself and my colleagues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119509740820419095.post-14564446022121922842008-09-11T23:41:00.000+01:002008-09-11T23:41:00.000+01:00Tira is in fact dead, I spoke with one of their fo...Tira is in fact dead, I spoke with one of their former employees at CTIA. At the end of the day we want a device which can perform task at east and pleasure to use only for a few minutes. People would still argue about how good iPhone is and that it is all because of its marketing and advertising, but what they don't realize is that after two weeks of usage you will never want to upgrade to another one, although perhaps it is missing some features we used to everything is else it does is great and what's more important is that it is just the beginning....Romkinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12139998732888410682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119509740820419095.post-83252013699961829982008-03-13T03:16:00.000+00:002008-03-13T03:16:00.000+00:00Great posts!>Mobile PaymentsGreat posts!

>Mobile PaymentsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119509740820419095.post-4015109626096705012008-03-04T08:58:00.000+00:002008-03-04T08:58:00.000+00:00Let's be frank here, the carriers were always goin...Let's be frank here, the carriers were always going to end up as a bit pipe despite their hopes of being a media company (like AOL once hoped with Warner). For the carriers to survive they will probably need to flat rate bundle all broadband and voice charges. This includes, WiFi hot spots, home broadband, home telephone fixed, mobile phone voice and mobile phone data. They will need to offer a fixed rate bundle to consumers so they pay say £30 per month for all broadband and voice rising to a premium maximum usage package of £100 per month. There are signs of this happening already with 3, Virgin & T-Mobile although of course the cash cow of voice charges is slow to change but open to disruption from a challenger brand. I am wondering if this happens can the UK market support five carriers ? Isn't 3 UK up for sale ? Why ?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119509740820419095.post-16778520839760963232008-02-08T19:13:00.000+00:002008-02-08T19:13:00.000+00:00Pogo actually had a few Mobile games out in early ...Pogo actually had a few Mobile games out in early 2007 (I think) and they flopped miserably, to the point that they don't offer the games anymore, but people who purchased them originally can still play them.

It's too bad that the iPhone and PSP don't support Java -- which Pogo requires -- otherwise there would be a revolution in mobile gaming for its members who had one of those devices.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119509740820419095.post-68860197468456482892008-02-01T02:12:00.000+00:002008-02-01T02:12:00.000+00:00Hi Anonymous,Bluetooth games, huh? However, I would posit that the real multi-player experience lies in a feature that not only s60 phones have built-in but indeed every phone and that is OTA connectivity. I don't like to boast with my dear employer's credentials too often but have a look at our WPT Texas Hold'Em game: fully connected, in-game chat, buddy lists, seamless web-to-mobile play, etc, etc. Don't you think that this might not be even more powerful?

Nokia has 40% market share and of this, say, 50% (of the new ones) are on s60 handsets. We currently see below 10% of all users downloading games, and that would mean that a focus (only) on s60 would bring the addressable market down to some 2% of all mobile users. It is very, very tough to make a commercially viable game for that.Volkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07339880292543596771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119509740820419095.post-75096860664928126782008-02-01T02:00:00.000+00:002008-02-01T02:00:00.000+00:00Nokia - Connecting People, let's me think of a mot...Nokia - Connecting People, let's me think of a moto for their new NGage phone, NGage - Connecting Gamers. Doesn't it sound great? Everybody konws all the s60 and new nokias are equipped with bluetooth, which can connect people and gamers! In the mobile game market, there isn't many of bluetooth connected apps or games. Even on the carriers' mobile portal, it's not easy to find a multiplayer bluetooth game. There is a whole bunch of "Cup and T-Shirt" like movie games out there in the market but not many multiplayer games. Either the game developer are not up to the technology or the carrier doesn't want to sell bluetooth games. The later one are likely to be true. or they both are not the reaons?!
